About Our School
Powerstown National School is a mainstream co-educational school situated about two miles east of Clonmel on a spacious site beside Powerstown Church. There is a long tradition of education in the area dating back to records of a hedge school in the mid 19th Century.
The school has expanded over the years to its current size of 367 pupils. We have an administrative principal, fifteen class teachers, four special education teachers, three special needs assistants and a full-time secretary.
We are a Catholic school, under the patronage of the Bishop of Waterford and Lismore. We endeavour to provide an education of the highest quality where every child is encouraged and enabled to reach their full and unique potential. Our school is all inclusive where tolerance and respect for other cultures, religions and traditions are fostered.”
Our school motto ‘Mol an Óige agus tiocfaidh siad!’ reflects how we strive to promote a sense of worth, confidence and high self-esteem among our pupils.
Mol an Óige agus tiocfaidh siad!
Praise the young and they will thrive!
